Happy Friday!
As we cruise into the weekend, I’ve addressed some frequently asked questions pertaining to Disney Cruise Line, the Disney Destiny in particular. Sailing on its maiden voyage in November 2025, eligible parties can start booking their trips aboard as early as September 6th! Are you ready to set sail? Let’s take a look at five frequently asked Disney Cruise Line questions that can help you decide.
What is included in the price of a Disney cruise?
Disney Cruise Line provides amazing value for its guests. For me, being nickeled and dimed can turn a really lovely experience sour, but there is no danger of that with DCL. The price of your cruise includes:
Incredible entertainment options for all ages, with Broadway style shows being a standout
Spacious staterooms, many of which feature DCL’s iconic split bathroom styling
Variety of dining options from quick service on the pool deck to sit down meals at their upscale restaurants
Kids clubs divided by ages with activities specifically themed for each age group
Adults only areas with exclusive entertainment once the littles have gone to bed
What are the different types of staterooms on board?
There are 1246 staterooms on board the Disney Destiny, and they are divided into five categories. They are Inside, Oceanview, Veranda, Concierge, and Royal Suite. Let’s briefly go through each of these categories.
Inside: As it sounds, these staterooms are on the interior of the ship, with no view of the outside. These can generally sleep 3-4 guests and feature a single bath.
Oceanview: For views of the ocean, guests are provided with a porthole! As a 12-year-old on my first Disney Cruise, staying where a porthole served as my window was one of the coolest experiences! These cabins can usually sleep 3-5 guests and feature a split bath.
Verandah: If you’re after a breath of fresh air in your own space, this is the stateroom category for you! Typically sleeping 3-5 guests, these staterooms feature a private verandah and split bath.
Concierge: This category is really special. It’s not just about the extra space, split bathroom, and verandah, but what comes along with concierge services. You’re one of the first to board the ship, you have access to the Concierge Lounge with complimentary snacks and adult beverages, and the option to book special experiences ahead of non-concierge guests, among other perks! Can sleep up to 5 people.
Royal Suite: There are three kinds of Royal Suite on board the Disney Destiny, and I believe each of them are larger than my last apartment. There are two styles of Royal Suite, one being one-story, the other being a two-story design. These may sleep up to 6 guests. The crowning glory of the staterooms on this ship goes to the Destiny Tower Suite, a two-story, nearly 2,000 sq. ft. accommodation in the funnel. It may sleep up to 8 guests, and there’s only one on board.
Is Disney Cruise Line capable of working with dietary restrictions?
With the extensive focus on customer service, Disney Cruise Line is known to be accommodating when it comes to allergies and food-related illnesses. Let DCL know your restriction up to three days ahead of your trip’s start date. When it comes to kosher and halal meals, though, they need to know five weeks ahead of time.
What other fees or charges should I be aware of when preparing for my cruise?
When it comes to additional fees, where they come into play is largely due to your preferences and lifestyle. One cost is gratuity. You are served by an incredible team of people during your time on board, and they receive their tips from you at the end of your trip. The cruise line suggests gratuity, and you can choose to go higher as you feel it is warranted. As far as other onboard expenses, you may want to consider spa services, adult beverages, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, nursery care, specialty treats & coffees, adult-only dining (Palo, Remy, Enchante), limited availability activities (cooking glasses, alcoholic beverage tastings, etc.), and photos taken by crew members during special events or character greetings. There are also a few shops on board that are open limited hours from which you may make purchases. When it comes to ports of call, any excursions, dining, or shopping you choose to enjoy will also be at your own expense. I’ve sailed on cruises where I have made extensive on-board purchases, and others where I hardly made any. Pulling out your wallet won’t be necessary for you to have a magical vacation.
How does a Disney cruise get booked?
There are a few ways to book a Disney cruise. Naturally, I’m going to recommend that you contact a travel advisor and have them navigate the booking process & manage your trip. They read the fine print, know what payments are due when, ensure you have the proper paperwork to enjoy each destination, and take the responsibility of planning off your shoulders. If that does not sound like your style, cruises can also be booked online at https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/ or over the phone at (800) 951-3532.
