How to prep for Epic like a pro and skip the stress
Epic Universe is finally here — and if you’re heading there soon, this post is your cheat sheet for a smooth, magical, and yes, luxuriously planned experience.
Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or with your crew of mini Vikings and wizards, there are a few key things to know and prepare for.
Let’s make your first trip feel less like a scramble and more like stepping into your favorite story. We’ll get all the plot points laid out for you, with a healthy buffer for unexpected twists!
✅ 1. Early Entry or VIP Access to Epic Universe
If you’re staying at a Universal resort, you get early park admission! Get into Nintendo World and Celestial Park an hour early and explore each morning. When heading in, explore the lands and save the rides for later in the day when the crowds are less concentrated in this area.
That said, do you want to skip the lines and have a guided experience? VIP tours are the way to go! These tours often including at least one meal, you can choose from both private and non-private options and have your day curated to your preferences.
✅ 2. Download the Universal App
Trust me, you’ll want:
- Live wait times
- Mobile ordering (a lifesaver for families or those prone to being hangry 👀)
- Your tickets + park map in one spot
- Menus at your fingertips
- Reminders of showtimes so you don’t miss anything
This app is integral to making your park experience a smooth endeavor. Don’t leave your hotel without it.
✅ 3. Start in the Right Land
Where you begin your day matters. Here’s a quick vibe check:
- Celestial Park = calming intro. You start here, but from there it’s choose-your-own adventure.
- Super Nintendo World = high-energy immersion and interactive zone.
- Isle of Berk = family-forward and splashy. You’ll want to spend the hottest parts of the day here.
- Ministry of Magic = magic with a ritzy flair. Travel between Paris & London without crossing the Channel.
- Dark Universe = better after sunset. Particularly for my fellow spooky girls & boys.
Bonus: I’ll help you map out your first few hours based on your group’s vibe and priorities. I’ll be especially glad to include snack recommendations.
✅ 4. Make Your Epic Must-Do List (Before You Go)
Opening week will be busy. In fact, opening year will likely maintain the activity levels. But if you walk in knowing the 3–5 things you really have to do, you’ll walk out satisfied.
Need help building your list? That’s what I’m here for! I’ll send you a few curated suggestions based on who’s going (and how long you’re staying).
✅ 5. Bring the Vibe With You
Comfortable shoes, themed outfits, a backpack with chargers + water… but also:
- A cute printable for the kids (like my Viking Badge Chart!)
- A Monster Movie checklist to watch before the trip
- My Epic Snack Passport for each land
You’re going to experience an immersive park that is yet unrivaled in the world of United States theme parks. Let me make it the best visit possible for you!
