When was the last time you spent true one-on-one time with your person? You do life together every day, but it’s easy to slip into routines and miss out on each other. Maybe it’s a milestone birthday, an anniversary, or simply the need to reconnect. Whatever the reason, you’ve been dreaming about time away together.
But to get there… you have to balance time off, travel distance, budget, someone to look after kiddos or pets, and the activities already on your calendar. That’s all before you pick where to go, what to do, and actually getting the bookings made!
So while you want to take that time away together, those daunting details can lead you to resignedly say, “Maybe next year…”.
Enough of the doom and gloom, I have good news! A guided tour can be a powerful tool in ensuring you bond and equipping you to explore some place new.
And to make sure we’re on the same page here, ‘guided tour’ doesn’t necessarily mean ‘group tour’. You can have an incredible guided experience that’s private.
All without the arguments over directions and what to eat for dinner 😉
Let Someone Else Handle Logistics
As much as we love a couple’s trip, the practical components aren’t always fun. Things like rushing to scheduled activities, finding parking in unfamiliar cities, navigating language barriers, or deciding what’s “worth it” can turn romantic energy into tension.
A guided trip solves all of that. The highlights are planned, tickets and reservations are secured, and your guide keeps you on track. You still have room to make choices, but the hard stuff? Handled.
That makes room for what really matters: slowing down, being present, and fully enjoying your time together.
Elevated Shared Experiences
Guided trips also give you access to things you couldn’t easily arrange on your own. The buying power and connections of established tour companies open doors—literally. Think early-morning private access to historic sites, skip-the-line privileges, or unique experiences that make your trip extraordinary.
And the guides themselves bring destinations to life. Whether they’re teaching you about local traditions, leading you on a hike or safari, or simply pointing you toward the best hidden gem for dinner, you get to focus on enjoying the present together.
Take Germany’s Oktoberfest, for example. Authentic Bavarian outfits are part of the experience—but buying one outright can be pricey, especially for something you might only wear once. With the right guided trip, you can have a perfectly fitted outfit delivered to your hotel before heading out, along with insider access to the festival. That’s the kind of thoughtful detail that makes a trip memorable (and saves you a lot of hassle).

Balance Between Structure and Freedom
The best guided tours strike the right balance. You’ll see the highlights and dive into the culture, but you’ll also have time to explore on your own. That balance matters, and I only work with companies that understand it.
So whether you’re getting IG proof at an iconic site or discovering a tucked-away café together, you’ll have both freedom and structure to make the trip truly yours.
Sample Itinerary
What could that look like? Let’s check out a private itinerary through one of my partners, Kensington Tours. Sticking closely to the Germany theme, maybe you have a deep interest in WWII history. This structured tour through Germany and Poland is just the start of the possibilities. We can add or subtract activities, making it completely focused on your goals!
Journey of Resilience: Poland & Berlin WWII History
Days 1–3: Warsaw, Poland
Arrive in Warsaw and settle into your hotel before embarking on a guided exploration of the city and the Royal Castle.
Visit the Warsaw Uprising Museum, and learn about those key in fighting for the country’s freedom during WWII. Stop at Pawiak Prison and immerse yourself in thought as you take in the Mausoleum of Struggle and Martyrdom.
Days 3–6: Kraków & Auschwitz-Birkenau
Travel to Kraków via train and enjoy a lighter day, indulging in Polish specialties on a private food tour. You won’t believe how good the pierogies are, and the city itself is charming.
The following day, tour the city and make connections to Schindler’s List. Step into Oskar Schindler’s factory and gain insights into the story that inspired the film.
Wrap up your time in Krakow with a deeply moving visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau. A tour of the former concentration camp is both difficult and surreal. I can’t recommend it enough.
Days 7-9: Wroclaw
While here, you’ll visit a former POW camp, now known as the Stalag Luft III Prisoner Camp Museum. This is another part of your trip with a history that has inspired film, this one being The Great Escape.
Days 9–12: Berlin
In Berlin, explore critical sites like the Holocaust Memorial, Checkpoint Charlie, the Berlin Wall, and the Topography of Terror in your free time.
Examine the Jewish legacy of the city on a tour with a Jewish Studies scholar, taking you through the New Synagogue, Weissensee Jewish Cemetery, and the both sobering and monumental Jewish Museum.
Conclude your journey with a stroll through vibrant neighborhoods now shaping the city’s story. Berlin is an incredibly diverse city, with any number of ways to conclude your powerful tour in a meaningful way.
Conclusion: Travel to Bond Over
At the end of the day, this isn’t just about where you go—it’s about how you connect while you’re there. Guided trips allow you to focus on your relationship, not the logistics. And while the example above was rooted in WWII history, your trip could just as easily lean into romance, relaxation, or adventure—think couples’ spa treatments, wine tastings, or even stargazing in the desert.
Truly, the world is your oyster. Let’s design something intentional that gives you the chance to reconnect with each other, and with the world around you.
Next week, we’ll get into how solo travelers can leverage this option. There are some amazing choices!

It’s time for a getaway that brings you closer. Let’s make it happen! ❤️
